Markus 11:1-11

Saban tahun Gereja-gereja pelbagai denominasi merayakan 'Minggu/Ahad Palma’ khusus utk memperingati peristiwa bila mana Tuhan Yesus menunggangi anak keldai utk memasuki Yerusalem dan kedatangannya sangat-sangat dialu-alukan oleh warga kota Yerusalem seolah-olah dia seorang raja pada masa itu. Ahad itu juga permulaan kepada 'Minggu Suci' yang merangkumi Isnin-Jumaat Agung, dan Hari Easter.

Tuhan Yesus datang sebagai Raja Damai, memasuki Yerusalem utk kali yang terakhir sebelum dia disalibkan. Orang ramai bersorak "Hosanna" semasa dia datang dan berteriak "Salibkan Dia!" lima hari kemudian.

beberapa perkara yg boleh direnungkan daripada Markus 11:1-11

1. Penggenapan nubuat Nabi Zakharia 9:9

"Bersoraklah dengan nyaring, hai Putri Sion! Bersorak-sorailah, hai putri Yerusalem! Lihat, Rajamu datang kepadamu; Dia adil dan menyelamatkan, rendah hati dan menunggang seekor keledai, seekor keledai muda."

Genaplah firman yg disampaikan oleh Nabi Zakharia (520 sebelum kelahiran Yesus).

2. Sambutan pada tahun ini tidak boleh disamakan dengan tahun2 sebelum ini, kita terpaksa menangguhkan semua upacara dan kebaktian Minggu Palma demi kebaikan semua pihak, namun ini sama sekali TIDAK AKAN menafikan kebenaran firman Tuhan iaitu kedatangan Yesus ke dalam kehidupan peribadi kita harus diraikan seperti mana orang ramai menerima Yesus di Yerusalem pada masa itu. Bezanya kita mengalu2kan dan mengakui kehadiran Yesus di dlm kehidupan kita saban hari, bukan hanya pada hari ahad.

3. Kenapa Yesus datang?  Yesus datang utk mati bagi kita. Dia dtg ke Yerusalem sebagai seorang Raja Damai yg merendahkan diri agar setiap jiwa tahu bahawa mereka diberikan peluang utk diselamatkan dari perhambaan dosa (upah dosa adalah maut, Roma 6:23) dan Yesus datang membawa jaminan kehidupan kekal bersamaNya, walaupun harga yg perlu dibayar adalah nyawa Kristus itu sendiri. Ternyata jelas, 5 hari kemudian orang ramai berteriak "Salibkan Dia!" kerana mereka tidak mengerti perihal misi dan siapa Tuhan Yesus itu sendiri.

Berbalik kpd mesej Ahad/Minggu Palma pd tahun ini, kita melihat ramai umat Kristen membuat inisiatif sendiri utk menyediakan Salib Palma (Palm Crosses) dan berkongsi gambar2 mereka melalui aplikasi Facebook dan Whatsapp- BAGUS, SYABAS! Anda menghidupkan erti sebenar Palm Sunday iaitu "Tuhan Yesus datang, diterima dan dia bertakhta di seluruh kehidupan kita semua".

"Be Still"

Kehidupan menjadi sukar semenjak adanya Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan ekoran tercetus dan merebaknya Covid-19 yg kini di tahap pandemik serius.

Ramai tertanya2 'di mana Tuhan, kenapa membiarkan semua ini terjadi?' Tidak kurang juga yg bertungkus-lumus mencari ayat2 alkitab yg relevan utk dikaitkan dengan musibah ini (ada yg mengaitkan Isaiah 26:20 dgn 'kuarantin' 🤷‍♂️) supaya kelihatan agar semua ini 'justified'. Tetapi adakah ini rumusan akhir drpd kekalutan global ini? Sudah tentu tidak! Ada banyak pengisian bermakna dan ada tujuan drpd semua pergumulan ini, dan ini adalah sebahagian kecil dari renungan (reflection) saya:

1). Tuhan 'Emmanuel'. Ya, Tuhan ada bersama kita pada saat dan ketika yg kritikal ini. Yesaya 55:6 "

Carilah TUHAN selagi Dia berkenan untuk ditemui. Panggillah Dia selagi Dia dekat." Hidup ini singkat, Life Is Fragile. Sangat rapuh. Namun kehidupan duniawi pasti saja tamat di dunia. Jiwa yg terselamat oleh kasih anugerah Bapa akan hidup selamanya. Persiapkan dan perlengkapkanlah diri agar kehidupan di dunia ini adalah utk kemuliaan Tuhan.

2. Pengorbanan Umat Manusia utk Orang Lain. Sungguh menyedihkan dan meremukkan hati apabila terbaca perihal Frontliners yg menemui ajal demi tugas. Mereka mati utk kita, pengorbanan mereka tidak sia2. Berdoa utk ahli keluarga mereka yg kehilangan saudara mara dan berterima kasihlah utk khidmat mereka hingga nafas terakhir.

3. Pendedahan Watak, Sifat & Sikap Sebenar Setiap individu/komuniti. True Colours, dlm bahasa Inggeris nya. Belum pun reda virus covid-19, virus yg tersimpan dan terbenam lama (dormant) ternyata muncul. Tidak perlu saya senaraikan semuanya di sini tetapi apa yg paling ketara adalah KEDEGILAN sesetengah insan yg sengaja mengengkari arahan dan rayuan pihak kerajaan. Duduk Diam2, kata PM-8. Masih juga yg pekakkan telinga dan berlagak kebal.

Kerana itulah Mazmur 46:7-10 sangat tepat utk situasi kita sekarang: Kita berperang dengan Covid-19, ramai yg sedang bertarung nyawa di saat anda membaca post saya ini. Ini bukan lah perang di antara Negara mahupun agama. Ini ialah satu perang di antara KITA (Manusia Sejagat) menentang Covid-19. BE STILL, ataupun BERDIAMLAH dan biarkan Tuhan bekerja melalui Frontliners, Doktor, Jururawat, Para Saintis, Polis, Askar dan semua yg berkorban utk dunia.

(46:10-11) "Diamlah dan ketahuilah, bahwa Akulah Allah! Aku ditinggikan di antara bangsa-bangsa, ditinggikan di bumi!"

BE STILL IN YOUR HOUSE.

BE STILL WHEREVER YOU ARE.

BE STILL AND WAIT UPON THE LORD.

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD.

"JIKA MAHU SEMBUH, KITA HARUS PATUH!"

*Sila baca 2 Raja-Raja 5:1-19 terlebih dahulu*

Naaman, panglima tentera Raja Aram, seorang yg terhormat dan dipandang tinggi oleh tuannya kerana melalui dia Tuhan telah mengurniakan kemenangan kpd org Aram. Akan tetapi, dia menghidapi penyakit kusta (leprosy).
Dipendekkan cerita, Naaman pergi berjumpa dengan Nabi Elisa utk disembuhkan. Naaman sgt marah apabila Nabi Elisa mengarahkannya utk pergi mandi di Sungai Jordan selama 7 kali. Naaman sangat2 marah kerana menyangkakan Elisa akan menyeru nama Tuhan, menyentuh badannya dan menyembuhkan penyakit kulit nya pada saat itu juga (on the spot). Naaman bahkan mahu terus beredar saja dr tempat itu dgn gusarnnya.
Para pegawai Naaman memujuknya bahawa dia tidak rugi apa2 pun (nothing to lose) sekiranya dia mengikuti arahan Nabi Elisa. Naaman setuju, turun membenamkan dirinya 7 kali di Sungai Jordan dan tubuhnya pulih dari penyakit kusta.
Naaman memuji dan mahu menyembah Tuhan yg Nabi Elisa sembah, bahkan dia berkomited utk meninggalkan anutan agama asal nya iaitu menyembah dewa Rimmon

Saudara dan Saudari, beberapa renungan daripada kisah ini:

1. Naaman berpangkat tinggi dan disegani, namun dia merendahkan diri nya apabila rela berjumpa dengan Nabi Elisa demi disembuhkan. Ini bukan masa utk bermegah tetapi masa utk mengalah. Di saat Covid-19 melanda dunia biarlah kita mengenepikan segala ego, persengketaan, rasa bangga diri dan sebagainya demi focus utk bersama2 mengharungi 'Survival Period' ini.

2. "JIKA MAHU SEMBUH, KITA HARUS PATUH!" inilah apa yg saya dpt lihat dr bacaan ini, yg tentunya sgt relevan dgn situasi genting sekarang. Patuhi arahan Pihak Berkuasa. Naaman sembuh bukan kerana air sungai Jordan tetapi kerana dia patuh pada arahan yg diberikan (Mandi di sungai Jordan 7 kali). Bayangkan jika Naaman putus asa pada mandian yg ke-6?

3. Sesudah sembuh scr total, Naaman yg menyembah dewa Rimmon berkomited utk menyembah Tuhan orang Israel. Adakah komitmen baru ini sesuatu yg drastic? tentu sekali! adakah komitmen yg baru ini sesuatu yg berpanjangan? ini terpulang kpd Naaman sendiri, krn tidak dinyatakan di dlm bacaan ini scr menyeluruh. Akan tetapi kita yg percaya bhw Yesus itu Tuhan, bagaimana kah komitmen kita? Masih kah kita berkomitmen utk terus percaya di saat2 yg Sukar ini? Jawapan nya "YA!" kerna tiada nama yg lain selain drpd nama Yesus yg memberikan kesembuhan rohani kekal.

Saudara dan Saudari, kesimpulannya Dengar, Patuh dan Taati arahan yg memberikan kesembuhan dan kehidupan. Ingat, jika Naaman putus asa dan ingkar walau slps mandian ke-5 atau ke-6, dia tetap tidak akan sekali-kali sembuh sehingga lah mandian yg ke TUJUH

A Good Question form the Net

There has been a very good question in a form of a picture being circulated in FB or other social media. While it tries to sound naughty and cheeky, it does however posed a very smart question that sounded like this,” according to Genesis, we all come from Adam and Eve who had THREE SONS... think about it, take all the time you need.” 

Allow me to dissect the question into a simpler question: If Adam and Eve only had males children, how did the multiply or populate the world?

At the first glance it does look like a slap to the Bible while the person who posted it smirked in satisfaction thinking he/she is a genius who had successfully ripped apart the whole foundation of human creation and common doctrinal belief as well as the inerrancy of the Scripture (clap hands). Flash News: You’re wrong.

If only the person actually read an actual Bible, particularly from Genesis 5:4 where is says 

”After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and DAUGHTERS” 

then the person should know that they did multiply naturally (due to the existence of other females), in which of course, will lead to an even naughty topic: INCEST. 

Yes, there was NO one else around at the very beginning of life on earth. WHERE DID CAIN GET HIS WIFE? This is a popular question used by those who try to proof that the Bible is unreliable in what it claims.

 When we read Genesis 5:4, We know that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters in addition to Abel, Cain, and Seth and if there was only one original family, then the first marriages had to be between brothers and sisters a.k.a INCEST.  

Was incest ever a ‘good thing’? Certainly no.  It is important to distinguish between incestuous relationships prior to God commanding against them (Leviticus 18:6–18) and incest that occurred after God’s commands had been revealed. Until God commanded against it, it was not incest. It was just marrying a close relative. It is undeniable that God allowed “incest” in the early centuries of humanity.

 Since Adam and Eve were the only two human beings on earth, their sons and daughters had no choice but to marry and reproduce with their siblings and close relatives. The second generation had to marry their cousins, just as after the flood the grandchildren of Noah had to intermarry amongst their cousins. One reason that incest is so strongly discouraged in the world today is the understanding that reproduction between closely related individuals has a much higher risk of causing genetic abnormalities. In the early days of humanity, though, this was not a risk due to the fact that the human genetic code was relatively free of defects (excerpted from www.gotquestions.org) This brought us closely into the question of Ethics.

 Are we able to accept the fact that the first human beings had no choice but to marry their own siblings, and later cousins? If we look at the reason for God to create humans from its very beginning (to worship, to live), apparently that’s what the Lord did when He created only Adam and Eve but after THE FALL, human beings are subjected to the world’s natural order. It is later, under Mosaic Law that incest is strongly forbidden and no longer a reason to populate the world. 

In this issue, again another issue surfaces to consider: Though Ethically challenged, the need for intermarriage of the children of the same pair is critically needed at the beginning of human population and that is before the Law came about. 

Conclusion: Adam and Eve do have daughters. Marriage in this sense (only in this sense) is considered as between a close relative and later on prohibited. Incest will always be a sin, sexual immorality and ethical issue.  Afterall, they were in the world because they had SINNED.

Those Who Mourn

God wants us to experience His joy (John 15:11). Yet we cannot experience His joy until we have mourned over our sin. If we do not grieve over the weight of our sin, we have no concept of sin's devastating power. If we treat our sins lightly, we demonstrate that we have no sense of the enormity of our offense against Almighty God. Our sin caused the death of God's Son. It caused us to fall short of what God intends (Romans 3:23). It brings pain and sorrow to others, as well as to ourselves.

The Bible says that those who grieve over their sin will draw near to God (James 4:8-10). Those who mourn and weep over their sin are in a position to repent (Luke 4:18-19). Regret for sin's consequences is not the same as sorrow for sinning against Holy God. Confession of sin is not necessarily and indication of repentance. Repentance comes only when we acknowledge that our transgression has come from a heart that is far from God, and we are brokenhearted over our grievous offence against holy God.

Jesus says that those who are heartbroken over their sin will find comfort. They will experience new dimensions of God's love and forgiveness. God will not leave you to weep over your sin but will forgive you, comfort you and fill you with His Joy.

::Missed Opportunities::

Missing a good opportunity is not really a big deal in life. It may even lead us to another direction. This helps us to reflect on the things that we want versus the things that we really need the most.

I thank God for all the missed opportunities throughout my entire 33 years of life on earth for they made me more aware of my next moves and to discern better.

I thank God for the missed opportunities such as the recent 'crazy sales' at Giant because i might end up buying and spending on things that i don't need at all !

My ambition VS God’s plan… is it workable?

 

Ambition (noun) : a strong desire to do or achieve something.

"her ambition was to become a model"

 

Synonyms: aspiration, intention, goal, aim, objective, object, purpose, intent, plan, scheme, mission, calling, vocation, desire, wish, design, target, end, dream, hope.   Any living person with no ambition can be considered as living aimlessly in this world. By having a certain ambition, it reflects the degree of one’s strong will and determination in life. It is essential to have this spirit in our lives, that is to have aims and purposes.   However, never let or allow that ambition of ours CONTRADICT with what God had already in store for us!   For example, if our ambition and carrier took away all our time from worshipping The Lord then pray for God to open another door for you! He will answer (Matthew 7).   Let us consider what Paul had written in Philippians 3:7-8 “ But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.  What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ”   “Selfish ambition fades as your ambition to serve God grows”. (One Year Mini, page March). It is very true indeed. The more we think of God and His blessings, the less we think of our worldly gains and we enjoyed His blessing in peace and total freedom.   Let us invest and focus more on the treasure that will last forever.   Psalm 119:1-2 “Happy are people of integrity, who follow the law of the Lord. Happy are those who…search for Him with all their hearts.”

 

 

Being Wealthy… is it healthy?

Whoever came out with / coined the term “Filthy Rich” must have had a naughty thought in mind!

Imagine the feeling of a rich man going around with the label on his forehead. Not all of them became rich by dirty means; many rich and successful people are educated and gained wealth by honest and good ways. 

Filthy rich do not apply to ALL rich people! Is being rich a sin? Definitely not!

The Bible mentioned quite a number of rich people with ‘clean records’ and they loved God. Characters like Abraham, David, Joseph, Lydia to name a few.

The Bible did not really focus on ‘how much money u have’ but concerns on WHAT u do with it. The thing is, wherever your money goes, your heart will follow after it.

Matthew 6:21 “Wherever your treasure is, your heart will also be”.

We can be wealthy and rich (don’t worry) and please God with the blessing!

1 Peter 4:10 “God has given gifts to each of you… manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you”.

SUCCESS…in God’s eyes!

According to man’s standard ‘success’ is an accomplished achievement be it in school, life, carrier, dreams etc. Hence, there's no surprise when the opposite of ‘success’ is ‘failure’.

While it is undeniably great to be successful, there’s also lies a danger(s) to it. In the world where everything will try to lure us away from God’s truth, worldly achievements can lead to pride if we failed to humble ourselves. What good do we get when we gain the whole world but loses our soul? (Luke 9:25). In the process of gaining, let’s not forget the learning part.

Luke 12:16-21

“And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

SUCCESS must be BALANCED with humility and a RICH relationship with God.

Hari Krismas 2013 udah majak semak. Nyau mansang semak-sesemak. Udah nya, kiruh ga kitai Kristian ngintu Tahun Baru 2014. Bila Krismas datai, bala raban FB mega lalu begau 'be-post' ke pasal Hari Krismas- mai ngabang, nuju pesan, enggau utai bukai meh ti bekait enggau hari Krismas.

Siti utai ti narit ati aku ianya aku tepeda ka sekeda mensia bekelikoh pasal nama singkat 'Christmas'. Utai ti ko aku nya, bisi urang ngena short form 'Xmas' dikena sida nyebut 'Christmas'.

Lalu utai ti deka ditanya aku ba ditu munyi tu:

1). tau ke enda kitai ngena 'Xmas'?
2). Ni chara dilah kitai nyebut nya? 'Axe-mas'? 'No-mas?' 'Ex-mas'?

Enti ka nyaut Tanya munyi tu, kitai mesti ka nemu pasal 'sejarah' enggau huruf 'Greek'.

kala meda symbol di baruh tu?

ya, symbol IKAN (fish)...suah kitai meda bala Kristian ngelekat/nampal/ngantung ba dinding rumah tauka ba kerita.

Simbol ikan, tauka 'Ichthus' dalam jaku Gerika/Greek (fish) endang iya dikena orang Kristian ti keterubah kelia menya. Tanda/symbol tu dikena sida nyadi ka tanda belalai (Secret Christian Symbol). Simbol tu mega diberi nama titah 'sign of the fish' enggau 'Jesus Fish'.

Bah, nama sangkut-paut symbol ikan tu enggau topic kitai saritu ianya 'Xmas: Tau dikena?'.

ICHTHUS tu ke batang iya 'acronym/abbreviation' tauka huruf pandak siti-siti jaku ti panjai. Ngambika banding:

Enti kitai macha 'X' nya nitih sebut 'Roman Alphabet' tentu iya 'Ex' meh munyi iya. Tang kitai agi ngetan ka jaku Gerika ba topic tu, lalu 'X' tu ukai iya 'Ex' tang huruf  'Chi', tauka huruf ti keterubah ba Christos (Χριστός).

Nya alai, dalam konteks peragam kitai diatu: X = Christos.

X melambangkan Christ.....

= Christmas...... :)


Nadai patut nyadi isu besai pun enti bisi sekeda ka/enggai ngena 'XMAS' nya. Utai ti patut nyadi isu diatu, mayuh orang Kristian ngintu Hari Krismas enggau chara ti salah. Jesus ti patut dirami utang mensia ti guir-guir ngelu-ngelu ligau-ligau. Besampi awaka Xmas tahun tu mai reti ti besai ba tiap2 iko kitai!

God, Friends and Mission.

Jaku Ajar ba Pew Bulletin 6 Oktober 2013 (2 Timothy 1:1-14)

Ko Saint Paul, dalam surat iya ti nuju Timothy munyi tu:

“Allah Taala udah ngasoh aku nyadi seruan iya ti nusoi Berita Manah lalu nyadi rasul enggau pengajar orang bansa bukai, lalu kategal nya aku nat ka mayoh pemerinsa. Tang aku mengkang bisi pengarap, laban aku nemu orang ti dikarap ka aku, lalu aku nemu iya ulih ngibun utai ti udah diserah aku ngagai iya nyentok ka Hari Penatai iya. Pegai Jako ti bendar ti udah di ajar aku ngagai nuan, nyadi ka teladan ti dititih ka nuan, lalu mengkang dalam pengarap enggau pengerindu ti endang enggi kitai dalam Jesus Kristus. 1).        Sapa St. Paul? Paul tu ukai siko ari 12 Rasul ti keterubah lalu iya endang orang Parisi ari peturun Benjamin (Pilipi 3:5). Taja pan semina sekali aja iya ‘betemu’ enggau Jesus lalu ninga nyawa iya (Surat Kerja Rasul 9), Paul lalu mutus ke ati diri badu agi munoh/merinsa Orang Kristian lalu bejalai ke pengarap merita Injil.
